Ahmedabad

Background:

Though Ahmedabad was a main centre for cooperatives, there was a lack of a cooperative training centre in the area. Employees had to travel to Nadiad or Mehsana for training.

Initiative:

To address this gap, on March 17, 2008, Shri Ghanshyambhai Amin, along with other dignitaries, inaugurated the 6th Cooperative Management Centre in Ahmedabad. The aim was to provide effective and systematic training on cooperative society management and administration.

Training Offered:

The centre offered a 20-week Diploma in Cooperative Management basic course covering various subjects such as cooperative principles, history, management, administration, laws, accounting, audit, business development planning, and computer applications.

Infrastructure:

The centre was equipped with necessary infrastructure including an advanced computer lab, a video conference hall, and a hall with advanced equipment similar to the IAS Officers Training Academy at Dehradadun. Additionally, centre has halls for various capacities to accommodate different numbers of trainees.

Objective:

The primary objective of the centre was to meet the training needs of employees of cooperative societies and departments in the Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts, as well as private candidates interested in cooperative management.

This initiative seems like a significant step towards enhancing cooperative management capabilities in the region, providing essential training and infrastructure to support cooperative development.
