The Union performs key coordinating role for getting appropriate policy support for promotion and growth of co-operatives in the State. The State Union endeavours to develop co-operative activity throughout the State and to create new types of co-operative societies.
The union co-ordinates with the Government to understand and resolve the important issues of the societies. It takes up cases of different sectors of co-operatives with RCS, RBI, NABARD, Gujarat Cooperative Council, State Government of Gujarat, National Federations, Central Governments, etc. It also helps the State Government in framing proper policies as well as bringing legislative changes required in the Cooperative Societies Act and Rules.
The Union is represented by its Chairman in most of the Committees constituted by the State Government as well as the National Cooperative Union of India relating to policy and program of Cooperative development.
